Best of Melbourne City Stay with Sightseeing – 6 Days

This independent City Stay gives you plenty of time to explore Melbourne at your leisure, as well as a guided introduction to the city. But we couldn’t have you going home without experiencing more of Victoria, so we’ve included sightseeing that covers the states must-see sites.

See famous Bells Beach on your trip to the Surf Coast and enjoy one of the world’s great drives along the Great Ocean Road to the majestic monoliths of the Twelve Apostles. Another incredible day takes you to Phillip Island, where you get to discover the spectacular coastal views before watching one of nature’s cutest shows when little penguins waddle ashore at dusk!

You can also select a trip and request it via this website – please make sure you enter the quantity for the number of people travelling. In the ‘Additional Information’ field on the Checkout page, please add your preferred departure date plus any other information that will help us process your booking, such as departure city and travel preferences.

No payment is required to submit an online booking request, but your booking is pending and no place is being held. Your booking status will be advised when you hear from our travel consultants. Bookings are normally actioned within 24 hours – Monday to Friday.

ITINERARY:

Day 01 – Melbourne
Arrival and own transfer to your hotel. Enjoy your day at leisure.

Day 02 – The Great Ocean Road
Enjoy the views of the city and Port Phillip Bay as you cross the Westgate Bridge. You will pass through Geelong on the way to the Surf Coast and the world's premier surfing spot of Bells Beach. Continuing along the Great Ocean Road is a highlight in itself, your informative commentary will entertain as you absorb the truly amazing coastal scenery. Plenty of photo opportunity stops are made along this scenic road. A stop will be made at Kennett River township to locate local koalas in their native habitat. Then it's onto to Apollo Bay for a lunch stop. Your tour then continues through the spectacular Otway Ranges, here you have the opportunity to walk through the cool temperate rainforest. Then it's on to Port Campbell National Park and it's iconic array of rock formations. You will be awestruck by the majestic monoliths of the Twelve Apostles before returning back to Melbourne. Lunch included.

Day 03 – Melbourne
Enjoy your day at leisure.

Day 04 – Phillip Island
You will travel through the city's south-eastern suburbs and through the fertile farming lands of the Gippsland region. Enjoy a visit to a boutique regional winery in the Gippsland Hills which not only provides a wonderful range of gourmet produce, but also has outstanding views. You will also have a tutored wine tasting. Meet the friendly locals at the famous Koala Conservation Centre and enjoy spectacular coastal views at the Nobbies. These are rugged rocky outcrops abundant in marine life and Seal Rocks, the home of Australia's largest population of fur seals. Then it's onwards to the main event, to view one of nature's greatest shows as the world's smallest penguins waddle ashore after spending the day fishing. Finally, explore the Visitor's Centre before heading back to Melbourne. Lunch included.

Day 05 – Melbourne
Enjoy your day at leisure.

Day 06 – City tour, Eureka tower
Leave for a half day tour and discover this city which is the home to the Australian Open Tennis, Australian rules football, the Melbourne Cup and for a short time Australia's capital. Melbourne is known for its gardens, restaurants, cafes and markets, arcades and laneways, galleries, the arts and its relaxed elegant charm. Inhabited by peoples from all corners of the globe its cosmopolitan people give generously and share passionately in the riches of this dynamic and elegant city. Then, visit the Eureka tower before your tour comes to an end.
