ITINERARY:

Day 1: Arrive Broome
Upon arrival in Broome, please catch a taxi to your overnight hotel for next four nights. Broome is a beach resort town in western Australia’s Kimberley region. Along its Indian Ocean coastline, the white sands of 22km-long Cable Beach offer a dramatic backdrop for sunset camel rides. At Gantheaume Point nearby, dinosaur tracks are revealed in the beach’s red rocks during low tide. Broome’s historic Chinatown overlooks Roebuck Bay, a jumping off point for cruises to local pearl farms.

Day 2: Broome Half Day Tour
Enjoying a full commentary, we begin in Chinatown hearing fascinating stories of this colourful precinct. Learn about the ancient art of pearling from one of the local pearl producers, Cygnet Bay, and enjoy a historical sound show at the famous Sun Pictures, the world’s oldest operating open air picture garden (now listed in the Guinness World Records).

We take a drive through Old Broome to view typical Broome architecture and old Pearling Masters homes then view the aqua waters of Roebuck Bay at Town Beach and learn of Broome’s One Day War. We then stop at Matsos Broome Brewery to sample their hand made ales and famous ginger beer (complimentary tasting included). Afterwards, visit the tranquil Japanese Cemetery and take an easy paced walk at Gantheaume Point known for dinosaur footprints and the story of Anastasia’s Pool. Those who have booked a Sunset Camel Ride (optional extra) will then head north of the rocks to meet their camel for this iconic Broome experience.

*Note that those on the Camel Ride may not get to Gantheaume Point if there is any delay on tour as the sunset (and the camels) cannot wait.

Those who have chosen the Sparkling Sunset option will drive down onto Cable Beach for sunset (subject to beach conditions). Relax and enjoy a stroll, swim or light refreshments (included) as you watch the sun disappear into the horizon. A drop off to your accommodation is provided or you may like to enjoy a cocktail or dinner at one of the nearby cafes at approximately 6.00 pm.

Day 3: Horizontal Falls Fly Day Tour
Our Broome to Horizontal Falls half-day tour with the choice of a morning or afternoon departure lets you experience the incredible Horizontal Falls and the pristine beauty of the Kimberley at a time that suits you. Enjoy low level flying over the amazing islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago and Cape Leveque before your seaplane lands safely in the calm waters of Talbot Bay right near the Horizontal Falls. Then enjoy a thrilling ride on the fastest boat in the Kimberley through the waterfalls, followed by a laid-back island cruise. Return to our luxury houseboat for a freshly prepared meal. Enjoy an exhilarating water landing in Talbot Bay. Trust your experienced skipper to guide your fast boat on an incredible thrill ride through the Horizontal Falls.
Sit back and relax as you cruise through spectacular untouched bays and creeks. Swim in the clear warm waters of the Indian Ocean in the safety of our marine viewing enclosure. Get up close to the local marine life while your guide points out the many species of fish and inquisitive sharks (snorkelling gear provided). Enjoy a cooked breakfast or lunch of fresh barramundi on the BBQ lunch on board our luxury houseboat. Cameras at the ready as you take off from Talbot Bay on the return leg of your Broome day tour. Day 6: Windjana Gorge Day Tour
Departing Broome, we travel through a remote and beautiful landscape, while our guide shares stories of local history, people and the environment. Enjoy a morning tea break at Willare Roadhouse on the mighty Fitzroy River and visit Myalls Bore and the notorious Derby ‘Boab Prison Tree’, a relic of some cultural sensitivity due to its use as a prison for local Aboriginals during the era of Kimberley pioneers. Join the Gibb River Road and travel towards the picturesque Napier Range. Once a Devonian reef, these mountains are over 350 million years old and home to a diverse array of animals and plants. The perfect place to experience the stunning natural beauty of an outback oasis is Windjana Gorge. Beneath gorge walls rising 90m, we search for freshwater crocodiles, local birdlife and indigenous bushtucker. After a picnic lunch, the afternoon is spent exploring Tunnel Creek, a 750-metre cave system in which we discover secret caves and subterranean wildlife. It is here we also learn the legend of Jandamarra, an Aboriginal freedom fighter who used the tunnel as a hide-out in the late 1800’s. As sunset approaches, we visit the historical ruins of Lillimooloora Station to appreciate what life would have been like during early white settlement in the area. There is time for an optional dinner (own expense) en route back to Broome.
