This week-long escape in South Australia introduces you to a part of the country that few people get to experience, but once visited the beauty and wonder of the land stays with you. Rawnsley Park Station, a sheep station and award-winning eco retreat, overlooks the southern side of Wilpena Point and is the perfect base to explore the stunning Flinders Ranges.

On this special outback trip you’ll watch the sun set on the Ranges with a glass of bubbly in hand, take a guided walk across the floor of Wilpena Point, stretch the legs with a 5-hour summit walk to Rawnsley Bluff and see the working sheep station in action!

Itinerary

ITINERARY:

Day 1: Arrive Flinders Ranges
Make your way to the Flinders Ranges and stay at Rawnsley Park Station for the next 6 nights.

Day 2: Chace Range Sunset Tour
This tour takes you along a 4×4 track before reaching a lookout point near the Chace Range. The lookout provides 360 degree views of the Flinders Ranges. Enjoy canapes, sparkling wine and beer whilst watching the sun set on the Ranges.

Day 3: Wilpena Pound Guided Walk
This tour departs Rawnsley Park at 7.30am for short drive to Wilpena Pound Resort. From here you will walk with your guide along the Heysen Trail across the floor of Wilpena Pound, before climbing to Bridle Gap. We continue onto Black's Gap (just off the Moralana Scenic Route), where we enjoy our packed lunch before we return to Rawnsley Park. This is a moderate to difficult 15km walk, returning around 2pm.

Day 4: Rawnsley Park Station Run
This tour takes you to Rawnsley Woolshed, where you learn about the operations of a working sheep station. You will also learn about the pastoral history of the area and visit a number of bores and watering points that provide our stock with water all year round.

Day 5: Free day Wilpena Pound
Today is a free day for you to enjoy the sights of Wilpena Pound at leisure.

Day 6: Rawnsley Bluff Daybreak Summit Walk
Join us on this 5-hour guided walk to Rawnsley Bluff. This 8km trek provides magnificent views of Rawnsley Park Station and the Flinders Ranges.You can even see into Wilpena Pound. Finish with a cooked breakfast in the bush.

Day 7: Depart Flinders Ranges
Your tour concludes today as you check out of your hotel and begin your travel home. Make your way to the airport to board a Regional Express (Rex) flight to Adelaide or our reservations team can book a rental car for you and you can drive to/from Adelaide. Please inquire at time of booking.
