ITINERARY:

DAYS 1–4 Indian Pacific Sydney to Adelaide to Perth
The transcontinental journey aboard the Indian Pacific from Australia's vibrant and cosmopolitan capital city Sydney to the sunny welcoming city of Perth in Western Australia takes you through one of the world's most spectacular yet unforgiving landscapes, a journey that follows in the footsteps of hardy pioneers who forged new lives in the harshest of environments.

Your train departs Sydney in the afternoon, a friendly and helpful staff member escorts you to your comfortable cabin which will be your home for the duration of your epic and romantic 4352 km railway journey, as you approach the spectacular Blue Mountains settle back, relax, in the privacy of your air-conditioned cabin or head to the Outback Explorer Lounge and enjoy a welcome drink in the company of other passengers.

As the train makes its way through these sensational mountain ranges, it's time to indulge yourself in the fine dining experience for which the Indian Pacific is renowned, the elegant Queen Adelaide Restaurant serves up mouth-watering fare produced onboard by talented chefs, wash it down with a glass or two of fine wines form the extensive selection available. The following morning the Indian Pacific arrives at Broken Hill where you make your first off-train excursion, explore this historic outback mining town where BHP Billiton has its origins and visit the Pro Hart Gallery and learn about one of Australia's most iconic artists, back onboard the Indian Pacific breakfast awaits as you then continue your journey deep into South Australia on the southern edge of the mighty Flinders Ranges. The landscape outside your cabin window undergoes a dramatic transformation from the barren remoteness of the outback to the golden fields of South Australia's food-bowl as you near beautiful Adelaide where you have the option to spend time in the city itself enjoying its many attractions, or alternatively you can choose to visit the picturesque Barossa Valley and its fabulous boutique wineries, your day finishes back on board the Indian Pacific with a welcoming nightcap awaiting you on your bedside table.

The first light of dawn illuminates the vast and remote emptiness of the Nullarbor as your train carries you through the longest single stretch of railway line in the world, the evening offers a chance to alight at remote Rawlinna and enjoy a traditional outback dinner under star spangled Nullarbor skies.

The following morning the Indian Pacific rolls into the undulating landscape and emerald vales of the scenic Avon Valley as you approach your final destination, Perth, you've just completed an unforgettable adventure on one of the world's great railway journeys. Catch a taxi to your Perth hotel to overnight for your 3 nights stay.

DAY 5 Explore Perth, Walking Tour & Hop On Hop Off Bus
The orientation tour walk is a fantastic way to familiarise yourself with the city. This is an excellent way to get your bearings and view local landmarks before exploring on your own. Speciality tours last about 1.5 hours and there’s a variety to choose from: Icons of Influence, Art City, Convicts & Colonials, Town Hall, Boom or Bust. Each of them takes you on a different adventure of Perth, walks you to the top landmarks, and teaches you about their history and significance.

DAY 6 Swan River Cruise from Perth to Fremantle
Conveniently located just a short stroll from Perth’s CBD in the magnificent Elizabeth Quay precinct, Captain Cook Cruises (WA) provides an unrivalled experience for exploring Perth and surrounds. Cruise the Swan River between Perth and the port city of Fremantle on one of daily cruise departures. Stay onboard and enjoy the scenic round-trip experience, or jump off in Fremantle and take the time to explore the eclectic and artsy city at your own pace. Fremantle is well-known for its maritime history and the largest convict-built prison in Australia. Perth's port city of Fremantle is also well-known for supporting the arts, from local to national (and some international) artists. Freo is a must-visit for all tourists and a popular choice for a day or night out among the locals. After exploring Fremantle at leisure, cruise back to Perth.
