Day 1: Fly to Christchurch, New Zealand
On arrival in Christchurch, please make your way to the motel for your 2-night stay.
Accommodation: Christchurch

Day 2: A day to explore the evolving city of Christchurch. Christchurch, known for its English heritage, is located on the east coast of New Zealand’s South Island. Flat-bottomed punts glide on the Avon River, which meanders through the city centre. On its banks are cycling paths, the green expanse of Hagley Park and Christchurch Botanic Gardens. In 2010 and 2011, earthquakes destroyed many of the historic centre's stone-built buildings.
Accommodation: Christchurch

Day 3: Today you'll enjoy a scenic drive through Canterbury and the MacKenzie Country. The drive is very picturesque and a great chance to experience some of the most impressive landscapes in the region. Castle Hill is two hours from Christchurch and is worth a stop to explore the incredible ancient limstone rock formations that can be seen from the road. Arthurs' Pass village is a good place for a coffee and snack break, and Hokitika on the West Coast has a range of eateries, shops and activities available.
Accommodation: Franz Josef Glacier

Day 4: Franz Josef Glacier. One of New Zealand’s most photographed natural wonders and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Franz Josef Glacier serves up a dazzling landscape of snow-smothered peaks, rocky gorges, and icy waterfalls, feeding into the Waiho River. Ask us to pre book a tour of the Glacier for you. (optional extra tour).
Accommodation: Franz Josef Glacier

Day 5: Head south through the rural landscape of Southland to Te Anau, gateway to Fiordland National Park Follow the dry lands to Lindis Pass which leads into Central Otago, then through the Kawerau Gorge and Southland to Te Anau
Accommodation: Te Anau

Day 6: Take the spectacular Milford Road to Milford Sound. Ask us to prebook a Milford Sound Cruise for you (optional extra tour). The best thing about Milford Sound Cruises is that the weather doesn’t matter! On a sunny day, it is beautiful and on a wet day it is spectacular! Fiordland has some of the world’s highest waterfalls. In all weather, you will see water cascading down massive cliffs into the sea. Milford Sound is in the Fiordland National Park, which is part of the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site which covers 26,000km² and encompassing four national parks. It is widely considered to be one of the World’s top travel destinations. Accommodation: Te Anau

Day 7: Travel through rolling Southland countryside then follow Lake Wakatipu to Queenstown. Lake Wakatipu is an inland lake in the South Island of New Zealand. It is in the southwest corner of the Otago region, near its boundary with Southland. Lake Wakatipu comes from the original Māori name Whakatipu wai-māori.
Accommodation: Queenstown

Day 8: Take in the stunning alpine scenery of Queenstown on one of the many great activities. Queenstown sits on the shores of the South Island’s Lake Wakatipu, set against the dramatic Southern Alps. Renowned for adventure sports, it’s also a base for exploring the region’s vineyards and historic mining towns. There's bungee jumping off Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge and jet-boating on the Shotover and Dart rivers. In winter, there's skiing on the slopes of The Remarkables and Coronet Peak.
Accommodation: Queenstown

Day 9: Drive north along the stunning West Coast Road. With its snow-capped mountains, pristine lakes and golden-sand beaches, the Queenstown to Christchurch road trip is one of the best you can do in New Zealand.
